Where do you fall on the strategy meter? Whether you’re aggressive or not doesn’t matter as much as knowing when to take risks and when to play it safe.
There’s a time to be aggressive and a time to play it safe, mix them up and you could be in trouble.
Offensive and defensive strategy can get extremely complicated as coaches try to out fox and out adjust each other. Batters adjust to pitchers and then pitch-callers counter with their adjustments, and on it goes.
Whether you consider yourself a conservative or a risk-taker, a sybermetrics disciple or an old-fashioned by-the-booker, you need to know when you should take those risks and when you need to cool it and play it safe.
Here’s a quick list of when it is helpful to be aggressive (something you risk takers have no problem with) and when it’s better to play it safe (something you by-the-bookers could break away from):
